I Arise…!

From the darkness of the night

I awoke

To the light of a promising day

Armed with selfless thoughts

With empowering cravings

To rise above yesterday’s failures

The ashes of past glories

The lies of illusions and hallucinations

Today is the new truth

I arise

To carve a new reality

And drift away from the oblivious lies of past confessions

That ended in disasters

Today, I awoke and I arise

To take a leap into life

To crush the confessions I make in silence

To deflate the egos of limiting beliefs

From the darkness of the previous night

I awoke

To spring forth and blossom

To All Poetry Enthusiasts!

I don’t joke with people who have a taste for poetry. To all the poetry enthusiasts, I’d say, keep writing ‘cos the world will keep reading too.

I admire the fact that passionate feelings can be expressed through imaginative words in a creative aesthetic style and rhythm.

Unfortunately, Poetry is not accorded the recognition it deserves, especially in African literature. It’s not a genre of literature that is hugely appreciated no doubt, and this can be attributed to its distinctive language. However, with more poets (Africans) rising up, this conception might change in the near future.

So, today, let me honour the Masters of this distinctive art the world over, Poets, who craft words, mould them, weave them together, adding rhythmic beauty to these letters to create a superb gripping effect. 🙂

To all the poets who add special intensity and beauty to letters as they invoke emotions into their poetry –  SALUTE.

Kudos to you all.

It’s Your DAY.

The world celebrates you today! 🙂

In addition, we may not all write poetry in letters. But some of you do, with your gorgeous outlook, and with the extension of your hands of generosity, towards humanity.  🙂

Here’s a big shout out to all the great poets, dead and alive.  You all are the great minds that add beauty and colour to our world.

Cheers. 🙏😍

Happy World Poetry Day! 🙂 🙂 🙂

How Did We Get Here?

I am standing by the window with my cup of Earl Grey Tea sitting across the room. It has become a daily ritual, even as I multitask. My mind is meandering, moving from one corner of the world to another.
My whole body cringed as I wandered into the scene of the violent uproar in my motherland. The gory images and the excruciating sobs from wounded souls weakened my nerves. The sight of gruesomely mangled human bodies littered around. Blood splattered everywhere. And a tear trickled down my brow. Innocent souls bathed with agony as they travel the arduous road of death. Ah, Lawd. who did this to my people? Who unleashed these demons that feed on human blood? The scale and magnitude of terror that riddles the world is heart-wrenching. This insidious erosion of humanity tugged at my core.

My Photo Of The Day – Captured yesterday evening at Houston, Texas.

So sorry friends, I couldn’t come online as I thought on this trip. The internet has been unstable and I’ve been on the move since I arrived the US on Tuesday.

Will try my best to make a post at least once a day.

Thank you. 🙂

The Daily Prompt – Cacophony!

The City

with its stunning wonders

skyscrapers and traffic jams

And all the cacophony of noises

The footfalls of both old and young

still, remain exclusive

magical and mystical

and the ambient sounds and confusions

never intrude on the hearts strings Continue reading
