I always remind myself that there is no better education than travelling. My reason is not far-fetched. It’s borne out of the experiences I’ve garnered from my vast travels.
Travelling gives you a world of boundless possibilities and almost zero limitations. Consider the world as a book and each country as a page. And consider yourself confined only in the comfort of your town or city where you are born and you never travelled out to see other cultures and societies. I am standing by the window with my cup of Earl Grey Tea sitting across the room. It has become a daily ritual, even as I multitask. My mind is meandering, moving from one corner of the world to another.
My whole body cringed as I wandered into the scene of the violent uproar in my motherland. The gory images and the excruciating sobs from wounded souls weakened my nerves. The sight of gruesomely mangled human bodies littered around. Blood splattered everywhere. And a tear trickled down my brow. Innocent souls bathed with agony as they travel the arduous road of death. Ah, Lawd. who did this to my people? Who unleashed these demons that feed on human blood? The scale and magnitude of terror that riddles the world is heart-wrenching. This insidious erosion of humanity tugged at my core.
She is out there. She is in acute trauma as she wakes up every day without hope. She lives in abject poverty. You don’t need to search far to find her. She is everywhere around us. She lives in the neigbourhood. She lives in the big city as a domestic house help. Yes, she lives in the rural community where there is neither electricity nor clean drinking water. She is somewhere out there, in the society, disrobed of her worthiness. She is sad, dejected and depressed because she is deprived of a meaningful livelihood. Denied access to a good health care system.
Just because you are a girl, the society might try to stifle your dreams and goals. But you’ve got to stand up and say no to any limitations and restrictive mold they may want to force you into.
I know it’s hard to be a girl sometimes but you’ve got to be strong. You’ve got to know that you are created by God to be a voice in this world. To achieve greatness and rule your world. You are born to be a winner. And you’ve got all the tools within you to achieve this height. You are smart. You are intelligent. You are unique. You are exceptional. You are phenomenal.
