Dear Girl Child – 2

Speak Out.

Your Voice Must Be Heard.

Any attempt to relegate you to the background will not be acceptable.  Any attempt to limit you from marching forward will not be tolerated. Enough of the stereotyped prison that has caged you for too long. Enough of the restrictive mould that has hindered your progress. Enough of the cultural and traditional norms that erode your self-esteem. Enough of the sexual harassments and violence and rape that you’ve been subjected to. Enough of the taboos that trail your womanhood.  Enough of the abuse on your person. You’ve been slapped many times. Beaten uncountable times. Manipulated several times. Dehumanised again and again. Good Morning, World!

“There is always something to do. There are hungry people to feed, naked people to clothe, sick people to comfort and make well. And while I don’t expect you to save the world, I do think it’s not asking too much for you to love those with whom you sleep, share the happiness of those whom you call friend, engage those among you who are visionary, and remove from your life those who offer you depression, despair, and disrespect.” – Nikki Giovanni, poet and professor

So, now you know that there is always something to do to make the world a better place. 🙂

Start from your immediate surrounding.

Start with your family.

Look at your extended family members and see where you can render some good help.

And extend the search among your friendships and associations.

God bless your efforts. 🙂

Peace and Love!

And consider yourself confined only in the comfort of your town or city where you are born and you never travelled out to see other cultures and societies. It means that you end up reading only one page of that book if you fail to explore the world. Continue reading

The Daily Prompt – Loophole!

There are always loopholes in policies, rules and regulations. And there are people who enjoy using these lapses to maximise their earnings by cheating.

Sometimes, it takes only a brilliant lawyer to notice the loopholes in the law. A reason why some hardcore criminals escape jail terms when they hire such defence lawyers. Continue reading

How Did We Get Here?

I am standing by the window with my cup of Earl Grey Tea sitting across the room. It has become a daily ritual, even as I multitask. My mind is meandering, moving from one corner of the world to another.
My whole body cringed as I wandered into the scene of the violent uproar in my motherland. The gory images and the excruciating sobs from wounded souls weakened my nerves. The sight of gruesomely mangled human bodies littered around. Blood splattered everywhere. And a tear trickled down my brow. Innocent souls bathed with agony as they travel the arduous road of death. Ah, Lawd. who did this to my people? Who unleashed these demons that feed on human blood? The scale and magnitude of terror that riddles the world is heart-wrenching. This insidious erosion of humanity tugged at my core.
