Myriads Of Thoughts!

As humans, there are times our thoughts travel far and wide. Our inner peace is besieged by life’s exigencies. No matter how hard we try to erase some memories, they keep coming back to us.

I’ve had moments when I’m in that solitary place and I keep wondering about life. Life happens and things get out of hand. Life happens and joy turns to sadness. Life happens and you feel betrayed by the person/people you trusted so much. Life happens and a once beautiful relationship crumbles. It’s such an unpredictable world. Continue reading

Recalling My Childhood!

Growing up, we spent more times outdoors as kids. I experienced an outdoor childhood unlike what the norm is today. Those moments we spent outside with other kids were one of the greatest memories of my childhood.

Vacation from school meant coming together with friends for some unforgettable moments outdoors. We indulged in all kinds of play and took long walks into the neighbourhood, helping the others run errands. Togetherness was the watchword. And there were no acrimonious tendencies at that time. We shared our meals if need be. We enjoyed the feel of the sun on our backs and the slap of the wind on our faces giving us a breather as we inhaled freshness into our lungs. The healing powers in playing outdoors with friends nurtured me. I grew to appreciate the other person. It boosted the humanness in me. Continue reading

A Bottle Of Wine & A Cup Of Tea!

A few weeks after I arrived Denmark
I found myself in a new society with an entirely new culture
Every waking day, I try to grasp a bit of the whole new environment
And just then, my new friend and housemate
A PhD researcher introduced me to her Danish supervisor
During dinner, she hosted at our student hostel
Her supervisor came with his lovely wife
And we all chatted while eating the assorted dishes
Prepared by my amiable friend. Continue reading

Do It For You!

It was a cold winter night when darkness has overshadowed light. Serenity was at its peak and the whole house enjoyed a soothing peacefulness.

There was no ambient audible sound and the obvious silence was loud in the room that even the drop of a pin can pierce through the silence.

A cup of tea lay by her bed-side while little Adaeze looked up at her mom. Continue reading

Tales From My Homeland!

December 9, 2018.

Lagos, Nigeria.

It was a beautiful Sunday Morning. I woke up very early to run some errands. I also wanted to avoid the long queue in most ATM cash points. I asked my Sister-in-Law to direct me to the nearest ATM Machine. My vacation was coming to an end and I needed cash for some vital purchases.

Sister-in-Law:  There are banks around the neighbourhood. But I think the nearest one is the one by the junction. I will suggest you leave now to avoid a long queue.

Me: Lol. Ok. I hope I will get cash because all these ATM appears to be for decoration given my experiences thus far in this country. Continue reading

My Travel Memoir!

The moment the reality struck me that today was the D-day, an uneasy wave of emotions bundled up inside of me churning my stomach to the point of nausea. It was a bittersweet feeling. This best described the condition I found myself as I packed the set of dresses inside the black box.

Everything was now ready and in a few hours, I would embark on the adventure to a new world. The preceding days have moved so swiftly and I didn’t realize it. Indeed, time runs so fast during such intense moments when we want it to slow down. Those moments when we still wish to savour the enormous love of the familial spirit that surrounds us. We don’t want to miss the fond affection of family and friends who have gathered to bid us goodbye. But today has happened so fast and there is a flight to catch. Continue reading
