Today Is Valentine’s Day!

Yes, the long-awaited LOVE Day is here!!

Valentine’s Day is the next big thing to Christmas. People get all too excited and shop like crazy. They get worried as they start thinking about romantic gestures and overtures to make to their loved ones. And the race to shop for gifts becomes a big task.

And at the same, there is the anticipation of ideas and the gestures they might receive from their spouses, friends, family members, secret crushes, admirers and even colleagues.

Today, in case you are bereft of ideas on how to spend this love day, I’ve got some tips for you to consider. Perhaps, it might help you spend quality time with that special someone in your life.

You don’t have to rob a bank to celebrate Valentine’s Day. You can keep it simple but nice.

Share an ice cream with someone you love, this is not just limited to couples or lovers alone, but to those around you.

You can consider taking a walk with your partner in a park, talking and laughing just about anything under the sun.

How about watching a romantic movie together? There are many collections out there that will add some spice to your day. In a dim lit room with your favourite drinks, enjoy the warmth of each other as you settle to a beautiful movie.

And hey, show some love, spread this net of love to your parents, your kids, siblings, special friends, colleagues and to those lonely souls out there in the world.

Valentine doesn’t have to be expensive.

Always remember, Valentine’s Day is no big deal. We can always choose to love someone every day.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Myriads Of Thoughts!

As humans, there are times our thoughts travel far and wide. Our inner peace is besieged by life’s exigencies. No matter how hard we try to erase some memories, they keep coming back to us.

I’ve had moments when I’m in that solitary place and I keep wondering about life. Life happens and things get out of hand. Life happens and joy turns to sadness. Life happens and you feel betrayed by the person/people you trusted so much. Life happens and a once beautiful relationship crumbles. It’s such an unpredictable world. Continue reading

Recalling My Childhood!

Growing up, we spent more times outdoors as kids. I experienced an outdoor childhood unlike what the norm is today. Those moments we spent outside with other kids were one of the greatest memories of my childhood.

Vacation from school meant coming together with friends for some unforgettable moments outdoors. We indulged in all kinds of play and took long walks into the neighbourhood, helping the others run errands. Togetherness was the watchword. And there were no acrimonious tendencies at that time. We shared our meals if need be. We enjoyed the feel of the sun on our backs and the slap of the wind on our faces giving us a breather as we inhaled freshness into our lungs. The healing powers in playing outdoors with friends nurtured me. I grew to appreciate the other person. It boosted the humanness in me. Continue reading

A Bottle Of Wine & A Cup Of Tea!

A few weeks after I arrived Denmark
I found myself in a new society with an entirely new culture
Every waking day, I try to grasp a bit of the whole new environment
And just then, my new friend and housemate
A PhD researcher introduced me to her Danish supervisor
During dinner, she hosted at our student hostel
Her supervisor came with his lovely wife
And we all chatted while eating the assorted dishes
Prepared by my amiable friend. Continue reading

Do It For You!

It was a cold winter night when darkness has overshadowed light. Serenity was at its peak and the whole house enjoyed a soothing peacefulness.

There was no ambient audible sound and the obvious silence was loud in the room that even the drop of a pin can pierce through the silence.

A cup of tea lay by her bed-side while little Adaeze looked up at her mom. Continue reading

Embrace Acts Of Love!

In death, like most people will attest, we find grief at its ultimate depth. However, we remain soothed by our indelible memories and the abiding faith that our loved ones are resting in solace with the angels in heaven.

The enduring challenge, therefore, is for us humans to more consistently channel rivers of kindness, and extend our love, care and compassion to our families, friends, neighbourhoods, communities, and all humankind in the NOW when they can see, feel and appreciate the depth of these feelings as well as inhale the sweet fragrance of bouquets in this earthly domain. My Beliefs, Values and Attitudes!

I was raised Catholic but converted to Pentecostal when I knew that my parents can no longer influence my decisions regarding the place of worship. I embraced this denomination mainly due to the stimulating, invigorating and melodious tunes by the Praise and Worship ministrations rather than the preaching on the pulpit. And this does not mean that I believe any less. Rather it was an entirely new experience for me and I was enjoying worshipping God in a new way. Continue reading
