An integral part of my life was spent at Teknolog Kollegiet, the university hostel where I spent two good years during my student days. I loved those years when I lived a communal life with other students from different parts of the world. We shared a large kitchen among other facilities. It was an international kitchen where various foodies and cuisines were cooked daily.
I loved every minute of my time spent in this cosy kitchen. Forty of us, students, shared all the pieces of kitchen equipment peacefully. Needless to say that the kitchen was a hub of many nations. A melting pot of disparate rhythms and cultures. Indeed, we churned out a potpourri of traditional dishes of our various homelands in the white kitchen.
It was fun as we all gather together to chatter while cooking dinner. I loved the communal living. I enjoyed the various activities we all engage in as we developed friendships and formed strong associations.
We baked different kinds of pastries and cakes, especially on weekends when the kitchen is transformed into a party venue.
Submitted for the Daily Prompt – Communal.
Peace and Love!
