In our contemporary world, to be an effective teacher, public speaker, writer, blogger etcetera and no matter the genre we deal with, demand to engage with an audience. It requires effective communication.
In show business or the entertainment industry, whether TV or Radio, it is important to poke some fun as you carry out your job. Nothing beats a TV talk show host who has a great sense of humour. Or even a Radio presenter especially with music who knows how to elicit laughter and amusement by cracking some jokes while performing their duties.
How do you do this?
By demonstrating some elements of wit in your expressions, in your writings or in your lecture. I mean there is nothing wrong in treating your listeners or viewers or readers to some clever and humorous jokes.
Are you a teacher? You know how boring it can get in class. Therefore, occasionally infusing some witty jokes as you teach will get your students laughing. And that is a breather for everyone as they tend to pay more attention after the moment of laughter and giggles.
And for bloggers and writers, nothing beats a good post or write-up with cleverly intentional witty lines to amuse the readers. Need I mention that it is a way to attract your readers to your blog or make your books and novels more interesting and more compelling, when you blend your language with a fusion of hilarious titbits.
With such style of presentation, your readers are glued to your work. This keeps them pining for more. It makes them want to tune in to the radio programme. And they look forward to your TV shows. It makes them addicted to your skills and creativity.
In essence, being good at witty remarks add flavour to your work. It makes your target audience to desire more of you within the context of your job.
“You know, War doesn’t determine who’s right. War determines who’s left.”
Honestly, I like someone who is really grounded, super sweet, honest. I need them to have a sense of humor. I need them to laugh at what’s funny, I need them to get jokes and be funny and be witty and sarcastic. – Casper Smart

The part about a sense of humor reminded me Summer Of My German Soldier by Bette Greene, where the German soldier told the protagonist that if Hitler had had a sense of humor, things would have had a very different outcome.

As a teacher and a blogger I know what you mean. Humour gets the classroom going and hopefully my blog too…but then often it’s what tbe kids say rather than me.
