Lessons From The Palm Tree…

I grew up learning a lot about wise sayings and proverbs from my father and grand father – of blessed memories. It was a prominent feature in discussions, meetings or any gathering of the elders. I was always stunned by these sage sayings because they carry a lot of clout.

As I grew older, I revisit these words of wisdom occasionally because they boost up my energy level whenever I feel depleted or deflated. I tell you, proverbs are very meaningful and insightful.

Today, I want to share something with you and hope it will minister to you in a positive way.

I want to tell you about the Palm Tree. Do you know this tree or any of its fruits?

Perhaps, when you think of palm tree fruit, what comes to your mind is the coconut or the Dates. Well, there are others but this post will not deal with all of them.

The Palm Tree is a useful tree in all ramifications. It produces the Palm fruits which are used for different purposes. The palm tree is very resourceful and important. The coconut and Palm-nuts are the fruits of the palm tree that are quite prominent. They are very useful products at any stage. It meets a need at whatever state it finds itself.

I am sure the coconut is one of your favourite fruits of the palm tree. Well, besides eating the coconut, the oil is one of the healthiest as a food product.

When the palm fruit is on the tree, it becomes food for animals – the Squirrels and the Rabbits.

When the Palm Fruit is harvested and processed, it becomes food for man.

The palm nuts when processed becomes Palm-oil for soups. Palm-oil is produced in West Africa, Malaysia, Columbia, Indonesia, Ecuador et al. The seeds or kernels are processed into what we call the Palm-kernel oil. This oil is medicinal and used in varied ways. It is used both as food products as salad dressings and in the production of soaps and cleaning agents.

Now, why am I telling this story of the Palm-tree?

It’s because this can be likened to our lives. In every situation we find ourselves, we are supposed to be a solution of some sort to others. We are in this world to be our brother’s keepers. To help one another and to express love for others. We could do this by our smiles. By the words of encouragement to others. It could be by giving someone a pat on the back to say well-done… We could support others in dire need. Your timely presence might just be a breath of fresh air to someone out there. That token might go a long way to put food on the table for the hungry. That phone call might heal a broken heart. Soothing words are healing balms to a troubled soul.

The list of goodness is endless.

You may not know it that you are a life jacket to someone drowning. You carry a commission to impact others positively.

Be like the palm-tree. Affect others positively and let the seeds you disseminate be that of accord and not of discord. Let your fruits be one that many will benefit from in a positive way.

Be a wonderful resource to others.
