Devotional Nuggets – #72

One day a man was talking to an Angel. The Angel said, ‘What can I do for you?’ The man said, ‘Show me the Wall Street Journal one year from today. This way, I’ll know where to invest my money and become a multimillionaire.’ So the angel snapped his fingers and out came a Wall Street Journal dated one year in the future. The man flipped the pages of the newspaper, studying the listings and observing which stocks would be high and which ones would be low. But in the midst of his joy, tears began to roll down his cheeks.

Why? Because when he looked over the obituary column, there was his face.

God is not opposed to you acquiring and achieving things in life. But He wants you to know that this life can only offer so much, and unless you live each day in the light of eternity, you’re going to waste your time on the wrong things. It’s okay to enjoy temporal things, as long as your main focus is on eternal things.

Paul said: ‘My life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God’ (Acts 20:24 NLT).

In the UK if you live to be one hundred, you may receive a ‘Congratulations’ card from Buckingham Palace, signed by the Queen herself. But it doesn’t compare to the ‘well done’ you’ll receive from God for fulfilling the assignment He has given you here on earth.

Be wise with your time on earth. Do the right things with your time. Spend it judiciously. God help us to set our priorities right so that we don’t miss out the most important part and things, especially if we desire heaven at last.

PS: This feature is posted randomly to buttress the fact that I believe in the God that I serve and as a practising Christian, I talk about my faith from time to time. Only those who share this same belief can relate with my Devotional Nuggets.

God bless you. Happy Sunday to everyone.

Peace and Love!

    • Exactly. And even as we dwell in the present, we should be able to discern the things to focus on. The things to use our precious time for etc. Some people keep chasing wealth and material gains that they don’t even spend a day to enjoy what they’ve earned thus far before craving for more… Have a super day, Dearie. 🙂

  1. Dear Stella, though i am not Christian , I agree with this post of yours. It really is beautiful and wise. Live correctly each day of life and karma will take care of the test. Live correctly in Gods words then you never worry what the future holds.

Love this post a great deal.

    • I have nothing to add to this. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective which is devoid of christianity or any religion, rather from a human angle on the ideals of existence. Much love, Bella. 🙂
