Just as a smile is infectious so also is a frown and hate. In essence, hate and evil are very contagious.
It is a known fact that the act of forgiveness is divine. True forgiveness is not easily achieved by humans. However, there is the need to understand that one of the keys to lasting happiness in life is by forgiving those who have wronged us. At one point or another, people err and hurt our feelings. Families, loved ones, friends stab us in the back in diverse ways and we begin to whine and hold grudges against them.
This situation perforates the love that exists between us and our offenders. I have come to define forgiveness as a kindness to oneself because you free yourself of excess baggage and unnecessary anxieties.
“Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for somebody else’s mistake” – a sage.
Forgiveness is divine.
Today, ask God to give you the spirit of forgiveness to forgive those who have been cruel to you. This will pave the way for a healthier and happier journey in life.
When people say that to forgive is divine, it’s not to do evil people a favour and give them a clean slate. No.
But it is essential for your own well-being. So that their evil does not live on through you.
It is for you, that your beautiful soul does not become a conduit for their wickedness.
And when you forgive them, you kill their seed.
‘The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.’
We think that forgiveness is a weakness, but it’s absolutely not; it takes a very strong person to forgive.
‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.’
Be a willing conduit for forgiveness today. Be an agent of love and help to strike out hate in our society.

Stella, I couldn’t have said this better. I find out so many people don’t understand that forgiveness is more for the person who felt hurt than for the person who caused the pain. Then in the midst of the forgiveness, the offender is a given a chance to transform their own life. Also, I have learned that forgiveness is a process. It doesn’t happen overnight. I appreciate what you share. I feel that we have a lot in common. Blessings on your day. Roland

Yes forgiveness takes time – and the journey is fraught with setbacks and … damn fine for tortured creativity!

That’s right! Not easy to forgive… It takes more than mere verbal expressions.

Stella, I am so touched. Thank you for this fine contribution to Forgiving Fridays. ‘Forgiveness is divine.’ What truth from my experience.
You have a gift of sharing your peace and blessings, and I am grateful to know you. For some reason, this post reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: “A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows.” St Francis.
Something else I’m present to is how forgiveness brings great freedom in surrendering to love.
Thanks again Stella. Yay!! I’ll share this with my next Forgiving Fridays post with joy.
Love,
Debbie
