Build Your Will Power…

Willpower is like a muscle which is highly affected by usage

The more you use it, the stronger it gets goes a famous quote.

Willpower is an inner strength that lets you control your emotions, behaviour, and attention. It is the ability to do tasks despite inner resistance, laziness, discomfort, difficulty and opposition.

If you develop this skill and overcome procrastination and laziness, focus on what you are doing, and avoid unhealthy or unreasonable temptations…..your success is assured.

Willpower gives you firmness, decisiveness, determination, assertiveness, resolution, persistence, and the power of pushing yourself towards your goals and achievements… and nudges you towards commitment and pursuit of your dreams without hesitation.

Ways to develop willpower

  • Evaluate your habits and set a long-term goal for change:

For example, if you cannot eat right and you are gaining weight continuously then, you should avoid vague goals such as I will eat healthier, instead be specific with your goals by aligning them to I will stop caffeinated drinks and junk food. Setting sub-goals such as I will not have junk food this week will make the task even easier and clearer.

  • Sacrifice temporary pleasures: Temporary pleasures are destructors of willpower.

Train your mind to sacrifice the desire of instant pleasures for the long term reward. Always visualise the big picture after taking a small step. This will help in resisting to things for the time being.

  • Meditate:

Meditation can help you to build up your willpower. Use guided meditation if required. There are a lot of guided meditation techniques, which help in concentration and willpower. Researchers claim that after meditation your brain will be able to focus better, you will have more energy, and you will be less stressed.

  • Keep track of your involuntary actions:

Involuntary actions determine our will power. So, next time when you find yourself ordering coffee during stress, just stop and ask yourself Do you really need it? Keep in mind the long term goal of being healthy and stopping caffeinated drinks.

Apply this in all aspects of your life, your job or in your business, your career or studies, marriage and in your relationships. And watch as your success blooms!
