Today, the sun is casting its glow from afar and the trees are silently praying for the cold to end. It’s so bright out here that for a minute you’d think this was summertime until you step outside to embrace the wintry breeze. I tell you, my face is all brightened up because there is a compelling spasm of excitement in the air. Oh yes, it’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States and I am kinda celebrating here too ‘cos every day is a ‘thanksgiving day’ for me.
Yesterday, I was on the phone with my sister in the US and a couple of friends too to know their plans for this glorious day. A sure fact remains that it will be a day to get together with families and friends; to merry and enjoy an array of delicious foodies…Oh! Somebody dish me some food ‘cos I’m already drooling. Haha!
And guess what? Tomorrow is Black Friday! Is anyone excited about this? Well, not me though. All the shops are buzzing with great discounts and sales. But I am wary of sales these days and try not to fall for such bait… as sales has a way of depleting my account while I settle for unwanted purchases – I am wiser now and visit the shops with my eyes wide open, lol. But hey, Black Friday is a good day to visit the malls ‘cos there are exciting activities to behold.
Wow! So much to take in this week. This ecstatic feeling has pushed away all the worries of yesterday. It gives me an exhilarating feeling to know that better days are coming. To know that one day, I will jettison yet, again, these heavy layers of clothing in exchange for my summer glitters and flip flops.
As I stepped out into the beautiful sunshine, I could feel the crispness of the weather on my skin and as usual, people walked briskly to their various destinations clad in the usual cold colours of winter. Everyone appeared to be so much in a hurry. And perhaps there are those people who have nowhere to go but to allow the cold morning breeze seep into their lives.
What can I do without life? What can I do without this breath of mine. I am so grateful and thankful for life and for food.
So what are you thankful for?
Peace and Love!
