One Month To Christmas…

Folks, It’s the season once again!!! It’s exactly one month to Christmas, today!!!

The most festive Christian holidays is here with so much frenzy in the air. People have begun to shop for gifts and presents for their families and loved ones. The whole environment is agog with the colours of the special season. I just love the beautiful decorations everywhere… the sparkling lights, the Christmas colours of red and white… Wow!!! My Special Thanksgiving!!!

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. I began this season of thanksgiving with my post “The Month of November”, where I wrote about the Thanksgiving holiday. Though I don’t live in the US, reflecting on the underlying theme of this holiday, I am grateful for so many things in life. Continue reading

Being Grateful and Thankful…

Today, the sun is casting its glow from afar and the trees are silently praying for the cold to end. It’s so bright out here that for a minute you’d think this was summertime until you step outside to embrace the wintry breeze. I tell you, my face is all brightened up because there is a compelling spasm of excitement in the air. Oh yes, it’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States and I am kinda celebrating here too ‘cos every day is a ‘thanksgiving day’ for me.

Yesterday, I was on the phone with my sister in the US and a couple of friends too to know their plans for this glorious day. A sure fact remains that it will be a day to get together with families and friends; to merry and enjoy an array of delicious foodies…Oh! Somebody dish me some food ‘cos I’m already drooling. Haha!

And guess what? Tomorrow is Black Friday! Is anyone excited about this? Well, not me though. All the shops are buzzing with great discounts and sales. But I am wary of sales these days and try not to fall for such bait… as sales has a way of depleting my account while I settle for unwanted purchases – I am wiser now and visit the shops with my eyes wide open, lol. But hey, Black Friday is a good day to visit the malls ‘cos there are exciting activities to behold.

Wow! So much to take in this week. This ecstatic feeling has pushed away all the worries of yesterday. It gives me an exhilarating feeling to know that better days are coming. To know that one day, I will jettison yet, again, these heavy layers of clothing in exchange for my summer glitters and flip flops.

As I stepped out into the beautiful sunshine, I could feel the crispness of the weather on my skin and as usual, people walked briskly to their various destinations clad in the usual cold colours of winter. Everyone appeared to be so much in a hurry. And perhaps there are those people who have nowhere to go but to allow the cold morning breeze seep into their lives.

What can I do without life? What can I do without this breath of mine. I am so grateful and thankful for life and for food.

So what are you thankful for?

Peace and Love!

Entrances and Exits…

The trees are going bare and nude

‘Cos the leaves are dispersing one by one

Just as people who stroll into our lives

Leave us one by one at certain periods

I grieve as I watch entrances and exits

The pains of gaining and of loosing

Of moments spent together in bliss

And the brokenness with goodbyes

Such is the way life is made of

That seasons come and seasons go

As the autumn shifted her fall beam and glow

To let winter’s hands grip my body again

Oh, this season too comes with her bliss

Heralding the peculiar beauty of the times

The jingle bells are ringing again

Aah, I must endure this slap of harsh cold

Life is recurring and seasonal

People come and people go

Low moments and high moments

A time to sow and a time to reap

A period of recession and of boom

Just as people stroll into our lives

They must exit our space too

We inhale and exhale

For no moment last forever

Peace and Love!

Fighting the Demons Within…

It has been a little over one year when this whole course began. I started a blog. Yes, this very blog. And this brought me to starting a new friendship. Call it a virtual love of people and of things. It was a triumph to conceive the thoughts of starting and to begin eventually. A reality. The longings thus came to fruition. Though, I couldn’t stage a formal celebration for reasons… and I let it pass until another time…  Continue reading

The Month Of November!

The month of November ushers us into the inevitable change in weather when it’s going to get colder, darker, rainy and wet, and probably with flurries of snow. Then boom, comes winter in its full glare! The month of November is significant and it holds different meanings for different people.  For some, it is a birth month and for the Americans, it’s a month of Thanksgiving. In the Christian religious calendar, different commemorations and celebrations are held in November.  Continue reading
