I lied
If I told you
I’ve washed off
Your paroxysms of rage
Your deadly tantrums
Your filthy words
Sing discordant tunes
They hover around my head
Creating a box
Of poisonous hatred
Those bombshells
Those piercing utterances
Deflates and depletes
They dig a hollow in me
Weary and teary
But
Why did you join the race?
Why?
Those bloodsuckers
Emotional vampires
Drilling their prey dry
Clad in the façade of love
Toxic love
Emit poison
Anguish
Slow death
Read between the lines
Run! If you can
True love
Awaits
YOU
Peace and Love!

That’s the best thing to do in such circumstance.

I quit too soon. I want to add that sometimes it can be deceiving whom to run to. Be sure your white knight is not the enemy.

You are right. It’s a vulnerable state and one must be careful. Yet, there is need to run to safety and into new possibilities. :
