Fake – Daily Prompt

This post is in response to the one-word Daily Prompt – Fake

Fake is the New Trend…

She stands tall

Her beauty glitters and shimmers

Long nails

Long hair

Fur – coat

Sugary smile

Discordant funny accent

On a closer look

I realised she is two-faced

Concealed in pancakes and blushes

******

I saw the fanfare

The lavish display of perfection

A love photographed in monochrome

Elaborately splashed on Facebook

Curved lines carved in lovely patterns

Painted words made only for the fools

An ostentatious makeup to stir emotions

But in disguise she hid her bruised walls

******

I thought I heard it many times

Echoes of ‘I love you’

My sweet pumpkin

Where is the promise of sweet love?

Where is the promise of eternal bliss?

Mere illusions planted in the heart

A wishful hope turned a wistful pain

The bitter pangs of a deceptive soul

That leeched on the wings of love

******

I see fake faces screaming all around me

Buried in hollow subtlety

Echoes of the new trend

Fake is the new façade

Stylishly vocal

Fake lives next door

Making appearances in subtle ironies

  1. Such a beautiful, moving set of poems! These lines, especially, arrested my attention:
    “I realised she is two-faced
    Concealed in pancakes and blushes”
    and
“An ostentatious makeup to stir emotion
But in disguise she hid her bruised walls”

    Great lines!
