Daily Prompt – Longing for Gravity, You are on a mission to Mars. Because of the length of the journey, you will never be able to return to Earth. What about our blue planet will you miss the most? (Thank you for the wonderful prompt suggestion, K. Renae P.!)
I was surprised when I saw today’s prompt. Why, you might ask?
Why would anyone want me to embark on a suicide mission? Why would I embark on a one-way trip to the Red Planet? An expedition of no return! You know that a mission to Mars requires that astronauts perform everything in zero or low gravity. I am not an Astronaut, I’m just a blogger. And I don’t work for NASA. I love to volunteer my time but certainly not for such a journey of no return.
We all know that about 200,000 people volunteered to go on this voyage to Mars. But today, only 660 of them are still eager to be on the mission. I call these remaining volunteers the brave and daring professionals. They are ready to risk their lives to advance the cause of science. Bravo!
My only desire at the moment is to continue on this blogging mission which I enjoy very much. I am content with my life on earth. I am on a mission here to serve humanity and I love what I do with all my heart.
I enjoy the good things of life on earth. Wait a minute. I can’t even imagine not eating for one week or staying without water. I love Baileys. Oh yes! I love Rice and Stew and these will not be made available on the travel to Mars.
I love my family and love the oxygen rich atmosphere that earth presents. I can’t imagine life without all these goodies on Planet Earth. Thus, I would always choose Earth over Mars.
I love to travel and see new places but inspite of my wanderlust, Mars is certainly not on my travel list.
The mission to the Red Planet is unacceptable to me and the above are my reasons. I am sorry to decline and to disappoint you. I know Mother Earth is besieged with many problems, tucked in disasters, explosions, killings, earthquakes, lies, deceits, hatred, hmmn, everything evil and bad. But I am resolute that despite these vices, I enjoy waking up to drink a glass of water and eat any food I have a craving for.
I hope there will be other people who are desirous to hop on the spacecraft to Mars at their own peril. Perhaps, they will become heroes while their names are etched in history.
Peace and Love!
